As a child, I was active and loved gymnastics. Movement came easily to me, and I took for granted that my spine and joints were strong and pain-free.
As an adult, I pursued a corporate career in IT for over 20 years, leading to a more sedentary lifestyle with long hours of sitting. Despite this, I still sought out movement whenever possible, often jumping into gym classes after work. However, I started experiencing joint injuries from traditional high-impact workouts.
That’s when I discovered pilates.
It allowed me to return to natural, fluid movement—engaging my body in a more organic way rather than the intense, high-impact gym routines. Pilates felt familiar, reminding me of how I moved when I was younger.
After having my child, I took a leap of faith and pursued a career in pilates. Many years later, I couldn’t be happier with that decision. Now my spine feels younger, and despite being a busy mum, I remain proactive in my self-care and personal Pilates practice.
I’m inspired by my fellow instructors, both near and online and by the creativity they bring to teaching. Their ideas keep me excited and motivated in my work.
But what truly fulfils me is seeing pilates transform people’s bodies and lives. When someone comes to us with chronic pain and, after 12 weeks, tells us their back pain is gone—that’s what puts a smile on my face. That’s what keeps me teaching.
Favorite Food:
I’m a true foodie—I live to eat! While I absolutely love Greek cuisine, I can never resist a good pasta dish. In fact, I could eat lasagne every day without hesitation. And when it comes to dessert, traditional Greek cakes drenched in syrup are my ultimate weakness.
Favorite: Pilates Exercise:
Reformer Short Spine—it feels amazing on my spine! This exercise enhances spinal mobility and improves core control, making it one of my current favourites.
Mat or Equipment?
I tend to go through phases, but lately, I’ve been loving studio equipment. The spinal traction, combined with the alignment benefits from the springs and straps, makes me feel incredible.
Best Thing About Being a Pilates Teacher:
Seeing a client achieve a goal we’ve been working towards is always incredibly rewarding. Watching their progress and knowing I played a part in their journey brings me so much satisfaction.
