Meet The Team: Loretta

I’ve been a fitness and pilates professional for nearly 40 years and have literally worked with thousands of people, successfully helping them improve the quality of their lives.

I love being fit and healthy! The quality of life you experience on a daily basis when you are fit and healthy is elevated to an amazing level where everything is easy and effortless.

At this point in time in my life, I know that health and vitality are precious commodities that everyone seeks to possess. They can be elusive, require hard work and dedication and can come and go. They are the foundation of how we feel and the quality of life we experience on a daily basis.

Discovering pilates a number of decades ago and reading Joseph Pilates books opened my mind to the concept that body, mind and spirit cannot be separated. Thinking of health and fitness as just the physical is at best limiting and may end up being counterproductive.

Here at Pilates Plus, my approach is to teach people and not just exercises, exploring the unique capabilities each person has, to embody the health and vitality they desire.

I am incredibly grateful to be in a position, along with the amazing Pilates Plus team, to have helped so many people. But I hold my greatest gratitude for Joseph Pilates, who had the courage and commitment to dedicate his life to his vision for humanity…

Favourite Food

Everything! No favourites for me. You will find me being creative in the kitchen, trying new recipes and developing my cooking skills…although, I am always on dessert duties for family get togethers.  

Favourite Pilates Exercise

I love the simplicity and complexity of the pelvic rollup, how it establishes the foundation for many of the more advanced exercises and it just feels amazing in the spine. 

Mat or Equipment?

Very hard to choose as they are so immersed in each other. Each can work as a beginner or advanced participant. Mat can be done anywhere without the need for equipment and can be considered as a life skill…something Joseph Pilates believed everyone could get benefit from. I personally practice both.  

Best Thing About Being a Pilates Teacher

Since I was introduced to pilates in 1995, I have had the privilege of witnessing the magic transformation that only pilates can provide with countless people. It truly does change lives, replacing pain and movement limitations with confidence and optimism that there is a way to keep fit and active forever.

What I Love About Pilates Plus

People! It’s such a pleasure to be part of a community of like-minded people who make coming to “work” not work at all. This includes both our clients past and present and also the dedicated and professional Pilates Plus team…without them the studio would not be the success it is today. 

Favourite Things To Do On The Weekend

I love getting lost in nature, long hikes and swimming in the ocean. Travel and exploring local and regional locations I’ve never been before. Catching up with friends and family. Taking time to explore, learn and write about my other passion…western psychological astrology, which I first became qualified in 30 years ago.
