Ralph – What Pilates Plus has done for me

After seven months of work with Loretta, Anna and other Pilates Plus team members, life is healthier happier, and full of amazing possibilities. I have:

Lost weight, developed muscle tone and strength, reduced the size of my – waistline, hips, chest and upper back.

There are many subtle advantages to Pilates Plus programs and I have really enjoyed the “brain training” that comes as part of the package – from remembering routines to counting repetitions, the brain learns that it needs to get on board or it will get left behind. J

The Pilates Plus work “in the park” helped me identify a lack of aerobic fitness and as a result I have commenced some work to address that need.

In addition to general health and wellbeing improvement, what Pilates Plus has meant for me is that I:

  • Am less concerned with the physical niggles of aging
  • Can be as active with my grandchildren as they need me to be
  • Am looking forward to the enjoyment of new things that my body is learning to do
  • Achieve more in the garden and around the house in a given period of time
  • Am at least suspending becoming a grumpy old man for a few years yet   ;-)

If people were to be contemplating what Pilates Plus studio and outdoor programs might do for them, I would have no hesitation in saying that there is a package of benefits to be gained that I have enjoyed including:

  • Weight loss
  • Body shape improvement
  • General strength improvement
  • Overcoming some long term injuries
  • General wellbeing
  • Developing a more systematic approach to health and wellbeing starting with knowledge and attitude, and including stretching and exercise.
  • Developing familiarity with muscles and muscle groups to allow isolation and stress reduction in particular body areas
  • Posture – awareness of it and desire to improve it by better use of muscles, joints and spine.

Many thanks Loretta and the Pilates Plus team for putting me on a productive life path and helping me stay there.

The park training – with intrepidation I arrived early to my first ‘training in the park’, 6am on a cold Wednesday morning.
Whilst waiting for our trainer I had thoughts of driving home and getting back into my warm bed, thinking this is a big mistake and asking myself what am I doing here.
Then the trainer arrives and so does my companion, bubbly as ever, and I am thinking what has Loretta talked me into?
BUT, after the first run around the track time trial and getting used to the TRX, we got into some boxing. That was great. The second week, only got better and we are now into the third week – it is terrific doing exercise outside. Its fresh and you need to keep moving to keep warm. First thing in the morning is the most enjoyable time of the day for me to do exercise and then I feel great all day. The TRX and boxing work is different to any other exercise I have done before and it has improved my attitude towards my fitness in general and I really enjoy the work out and suggest to anyone if you’re unsure, just try it and see. You might surprise yourself as I have.

“Here I am at 51 – never really having exercised or been a fitness person - here I am  I’m doing PT under the guidance of  Paul (who is thoughtful of my shortcomings) – and thoroughly enjoying it…… I really enjoy the TRX  and even though I feel a little sore the next day (especially around the abs) I know this is doing me good.  I feel like I’m doing something nice for my body…. after all, it still has to keep up with my head and that’s not that old yet !”

I have done two outdoor sessions with Anna and really loved them. Being out in the fresh air is great and there seems to be no limit on how many activities are available. Anna knows my capabilities and adjusts the exercises accordingly.

A Breath of Fresh Air” - training in the Park!

“I tried it and it has been a very good experience – nothing daunting: just you, the trainer, the fresh air, the natural surrounds and the friendly birds chirping.  The exercises catered to my ability and I was able to perform without any difficulty whatsoever.  Even managed to run round the track which I started with much apprehension but made it in good time, and actually look forward to it now.  Also tried something very new – boxing!  So much  fun! – tests the brains and co-ordination as well.  Anna, the personal trainer knows her moves and gives me the confidence and enjoyment with her personalised training.”

This was my first experience of this type of training and it was great! Training outdoors was so refreshing after a winter of indoor workouts. Paul, my trainer, perfectly judged the amount of work for my age/condition. I learnt a whole new range of exercises especially with the TRX equipment.

If you haven’t tried it yet I would encourage you to give it a go!

My initial response to taking on the PT in the Park was to boost the work that I have found to be so beneficial with my pilates and I found my sessions with Anna more than enjoyable. I even surprised myself at how much fun I was having,  and had quite a laugh at myself with boxing gloves.  Working outside in the fresh air is most rewarding. I even put aside my inhibitions at doing this in public and realised that nobody takes any notice. I can highly recommend it.”

“It has been great to experience a new method of exercise, I never thought I would enjoy boxing so much.

As usual the Pilates Plus trainers are great instructors and motivators.

At the end of each session outdoors I have felt really clear headed and energised and that all of the cobwebs have been blown away.”

“I am really enjoying Personal Training in the Park.I like trying new things and so far am learning Fitness Boxing, some new ways of using TRX Suspension System and I am learning how to run. I have always had a little mental block when it came to running. I now feel confident enough with Josh’s motivation and training to succeed and I want to enjoy running. It’s great to know that I am being trained safely by a professional who has my best interests in mind. This gives me the confidence to try harder and to get better results.  At the end of a session I know that I have worked hard, had fun and have learnt something new. This training will compliment my Pilates and Spin sessions.

What’s not to love about Personal Training in the Park?”
