Most people DON’T want to end up incapacitated with a poor quality of life when they are “older”. You have the power to decide how you want to age.

Check out these 10 tips and don’t just read them…do them! As the great man, Joseph Pilates said… “We retire too early and we die too young. Our prime of life should be in the 70’s and old age should not come until we are almost 100.”

10. Take inventory of your habits and write down everything you do over the course of a few days, or even a week. How many of your habits contribute to your health and wellness and how many are destroying your health and wellness? Get real with what your habits are!

9. Start small – THERE IS NO MAGIC PILL OR SHORT CUT! All you need to do is start to move in the direction of your goals with imperfect action. Health and fitness isn’t a straight line and you’ll need to have the determination to stay on course with whatever action is possible for you, even if it’s less than you planned.

8. Take ownership of the condition of your mind and body. It’s easy to blame a busy lifestyle, other people, the weather…whatever it is for you that prevents you from stepping up and owning your health and well being.

7. Set your “environment” up for success, have an area in your home where you can exercise or sit and meditate, clear the pantry and fridge of all food that doesn’t add to your health and wellness.

6. Think long term and set goals of how you want your health, fitness, wellness and lifestyle to be when you are in your 80’s. There is no finish line for health…it’s a life time commitment.

5. Stop walking the fence! Drop the mindset of only doing what you can get away with. Do you eat health all week and blow out big time on the weekend? That’s a negative gain for your body and in fact adds to the decline of your long term health.

4. Accountability. Don’t keep your ageing goals a secret, tell people about them and ask them to keep you accountable. Write them down and put them where other people can see them.

3. Visualise achieving success, daily. Don’t put ageing in to the “I don’t need to think about this now” basket. Every single person on this planet will get old! What you do every day compounds and accumulates, do you want your health to be bankrupt by the time you are 80? Or do you want a full health bank balance? The choice is yours.

2. The right “why”. Start by writing down everything that you will gain from sticking with a healthy lifestyle and then everything you will lose if you don’t! It could be that you gain extra time with grand-kids and family, or that you never end up needing a walker to keep mobile. Whatever it is, it needs to be powerful enough to keep you on course with your healthy lifestyle.

1. The power of transformation. The path to transforming your health, fitness and wellness isn’t always easy, but when you do change, it will transform not only your mind and body, but your life! Quality of life is all there really is…especially as we age.
