Alan Stevens August 2010

August 2010 – Alan Stevens

Alan was first introduced to pilates by his wife Patricia, who had been a client of mine for a number of years. Alan was already very active, being a member of the gym and a keen golfer. But, he had always had trouble with his flexibility and mobility, to the point where he knew it was effecting his movement. Like most people with flexibility issues, Alan wasn’t sure that he would be able to improve at all, particularly his hamstring(back of the legs) length. We did what’s called a sit and reach test and Alan got a score of -8cm. So we started him on weekly pilates sessions in the studio and gave him a stretch program to do at home. Now, if you are not very flexible, stretching can be quite uncomfortable in the beginning so you need to be quite disciplined to stick with a program. One of the reasons Alan has been successful at achieving his goals was because he was persistant and consistant, leading to his most recent sit and reach test score being  +2cm!! A massive improvement of 10cm!!

CONGRATULATIONS ALAN!
